New Ansembourg Castle

brief description:

situated in the Valley of the Seven Castles, Ansembourg Castle stands close to the hamlet of the same name in Luxembourg. The impressive castle ensemble consists of the unostentatious two-storey manor house, a narrow elongated main building with a balcony-adorned portal and two side wings (one plastered, the other in its original state), and adjoining buildings which are connected via a staircase. The two adjoining single-storey buildings, the former servants` houses, are backed by two square towers. The main entrance, a baroque stone portal, leads directly into the castle courtyard, the sandy grounds of which extend to a wrought-iron gate, leading to the palace garden. Ansembourg Castle boasts a splendid French formal garden which is laid out in terraces and contains a variety of pools, fountains and perrons. On the rearside of the castle, underneath the balcony, facing the garden, there is a colonnade with white marble statues. Ansembourg is a beautiful ensemble with a natural, original ambiance, free of distracting modern construction elements. The interior is in part inhabited, in part not yet renovated. One of the side buildings houses event spaces for use by the public. Sanitary facilities and parking available.
