a number of working class housing estates with characteristic buildings extend along Villerupt´s hillside. The different residential quarters all have their own, individual building styles. Most of the homes were built in the 1920s. Some of the working class housing estates are composed of long stretches of row houses. Another distinguishing mark for the village of Villerupt are the many stairs that link the individual streets along the hills
